DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Yes, my services are eligible for insurance coverage with

  • Pacific Blue Cross

  • Canada Life / Great West Life

Check with your plan to see if you have coverage for registered counselling. After your session, I will email you a detailed receipt that you can send to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?

Individual and Relationship Counselling

$135 / 1 hour

$160 / 1.5 hours

$200 / 2 hours (in-person only)

WHAT IS YOUR AVAILABILITY?

I'm available for online & in-person cousnelling on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM

WHAT IS THERAPY?

Psychotherapy is a collaborative process between a therapist and a client, where the therapist provides a non-judgmental space and uses proven therapeutic methods to support you to gain insight, change stuck patterns, learn new skills, process trauma, reach your goals, and gain more helpful perspectives.

HOW DO I KNOW THERAPY IS FOR ME?

I believe that anyone can benefit from psychotherapy if they are willing to be open and motivated to change in their life. If you are still unsure, I recommend this short video by The School of Life.

DOES THERAPY REALLY WORK?

Many studies show the benefits of talk therapy. According to the American Psychological Association (APA), about 75% who try talk therapy reported benefits.

WHAT MAKES THERAPY SUCCESSFUL?

Numerous studies show that the quality of the relationship between the therapist and the client makes the biggest difference in therapy. You need to feel safe and trust your therapist to open up, take risks and try their suggestions. It is important to set clear goals with your therapist and to agree on how you will work together.

IS CONFIDENTIALITY GUARANTEED?

Yes, everything we discus is kept confidential. There is a few rare exceptions which is.

  • Me or my files are subpoenaed for court.

  • I have reason to believe that a child or a vulnerable adult are abused or neglected, and I am obligated to make a report to the authorities.

  • I believe that you or someone in your life is in imminent danger.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN OUR FIRST SESSION?

The first therapy session is about getting to know you and setting goals together. I will listen and ask questions to understand your problem, life situation, history and reason for coming to therapy. We will work together to set goals, and agree on how we will work together.

HOW MANY SESSION WILL IT TAKE TO FEEL BETTER?

A lot of people feel relief and hope after the first counselling session. However, making lasting changes can take a long time depending on your goals.  I suggest you stick with counselling for five to twelve sessions before you decide if it is the right fit for you.

I DON'T HAVE INSURANCE AND CAN'T PAY OUT OF POCKET, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I offer therapy on a sliding scale, starting at $75 / session for clients without insurance. Contact me at sayhello@spacetogrowcounselling.ca if you are interested in low cost counselling.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN'T MAKE IT TO A SESSION?

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel your therapy appointment within 24 hours of our scheduled appointment you will be charged the full amount.

HOW DO YOU STAY UP TO DATE IN YOUR FIELD?

As a counsellor, do over 40 hours of professional development per year, which includes supervision and formal training.

DO YOU DO IN PERSON SESSIONS?

Yes, I offer in-person counselling in Port Coquitlam.
